Total Miles Trained For Elijah: 356.1

After a mere six hours of sleep (or less) I woke at 4:30 AM to run 8 miles at "Tempo 2" pace. Tempo 2 is a part of my revised training plan to accommodate my ailing ankle. Man oh man I contemplated going back to bed... but I knew that it would just throw my whole week off if I skipped -- so out I went.

For the first time since post-marathon, I wore my "26.2 Miles and Still Smiling" shirt. I don't know why I don't wear it... I guess I think it is "too cute" to sweat in. WHATEVER! That rule is out the window. No sense having something you don't use!

As is typical with me, I was kind of dreading having to run quickly. I know, I know...

At first I was going to run east. A mile into it, I decided to turn around and run west. The thing is, I feel like I have ran everywhere a zillion times. I always joke with Chasen that I could work for the postal service since I feel like I know every road in town. The timing of this feeling was right on; I received a blog comment yesterday from a woman who photographs local places. As I was looking at her Benton site (http://salinecountyarkansasphotos.blogspot.com/) I thought "Oh my goodness - I know ALL of these places!" Houses, commercial buildings, parks... I have ran by them ALL. Just call me the Postmaster...

So back to the run: TOOT! That's me tooting my own horn. For a self-proclaimed turtle, I ran very, very fast today! I was supposed to maintain 11:20-11:40. Well, here's how the splits played out: 11:11, 10:45, 11:14, 11:33, 11:21, 10:51, 10:47, 10:58
Admittedly, I walked between each mile. But hey - I DID IT!

Tonight on PBS is the "Marathon" documentary. Check your local listings! I am going to high-tail it home from a local Halloween festival to watch it.

Tomorrow I am going to present Elijah with the Team Elijah scrapbook. I am so proud of all of you great runners for supporting him!

I've had the NOVA, "Marathon Challenge" scheduled into my DVR since I first heard about it on the blog circuit. I am so looking forward to it. I've even reviewed the website (more than once)!

Good run today, my friend! I am even running again. My back/right side is getting better and better. I will run 3 mile each day this week after missing 5 days last week!

Great run today! You are getting speedy!

I just checked the guide on cable and PBS goes off air from 8 - 6. Are you kidding me? No Marathon TV watching for me. :-(

I was at a soccer game tonight - missed the show - and I was really looking forward to it. Maybe they will do an encore performance - or I will just have to buy it!

Great job on the run, Susan!! You are really speeding up :-)
