St. Jude Marathon - The Short Version

I am done! I hate to say this... but it was pretty awful for me today. I never thought I'd be saying this... but I ran my second marathon WAY slower than my first. BUT it was for an excellent cause, and I'd do it all over in a heartbeat. It's too bad that we can't pick the days that we're "on," because today I was "off." Alas, I feel like a true hero because I finished (and things started to go south before mile 8). My time was 5:59:06 -- very slow. I'll write more about it later. As for now, I am super blessed to have just finished and to have a great husband who supported me tremendously today. And our friends that came over with us did a great job, also. So here is my final thought: It was the worst race ever for the best cause ever.

Happy 7th Birthday to Elijah!!!!

I'm sorry we couldn't be there for you at the finish line. Let's just say you weren't the only one having an "off" day!!! One main thing I was grateful for was the perfect running weather we had!!! And I thought the crowd support was great.

Rest now, you certainly deserve it!! We saw Chasen a few times today, tell him "thank you" for supporting us as well!!!

Even if you were having an "off" day, it is still a tremendous accomplishment for a wonderful cause!
Congratulations on a job well done! I can't wait to hear more about it!!

I'm sorry to hear that this was not your day.

Regardless, you did a fantastic job fund raising and it is an amazing cause, and the icing on the cake was that it happens to be Elijah's birthday!

And remember, you DID finish!

I want you to know that I am proud of you... it shows alot of character to keep going when things don't go as planned. You have a lot of things to be proud of!

Susan, even though you may have been having a bad day, you overcame it and FINISHED!! Thats all that really counts. I really wish I could have been there to see all of you finish. Next year Memphis will be on my "must do" list.

Susan - you were in my thoughts today as I was running....and I am so proud of you hanging in there and finishing the race. You have shown all through your training your strength to stick through the toughest runs, and once again you have succeeded!!!

Congrats on completing your second marathon! :-) Looking forward to the long version report!

Susan... You are awesome!! I was so dissapointed that I didnt' get your message sooner, and I wasn't there for you when you needed me.

I am so proud of you for finishing!!

Chasen seeing you on the course was so great. It would keep me going for miles afterwards!!!!

I was very proud to wear my "I run for Elijah" shirt today!!

I'm starting to believe it's the "off" days that really make the runner. Being on is easy and effortless at times, but being off takes courage, character, and tremendous self-determination.

You, lady, are a true hero.

Now, pat yourself on the back for the amazing woman you are and get some well deserved rest.

To finish a marathon on an off day is so MUCH harder than doing so on a good day. You should be very proud of yourself. I know I am -- CONGRATS!!
