Pilates

Today I went to a pilates class taught by Tonya the Trainer. I am once again trying to find something that does not hurt my peroneal tendon. I may have found it!

I showed up a little early. As it turned out, there were three of us in the class, plus Tonya. One of the other girls was Deborah from the run club! The other girl asked her if she went to the run club. Deborah started talking about it, and then she said "Oh you're Susan, the trainer." Never in all of my life did I think I'd hear those words. Wowee! So we all spoke of the run club for a bit. I think the other girl will come tomorrow. Yay!

So pilates -- it was great! The class lasted an hour. It was fantastic. Only one pose hurt my foot, so I altered it accordingly. I had only tried pilates once before about four years ago and remembered being very, very bad at it. Today, I must say, I had a much better sense of balance and control. RUNNING, maybe???? Who knows. I especially like the moves that required the ball. I felt like every muscle got worked today.

Tonya is a pilates MASTER. Wow. She did everything like a machine -- flawlessly. Well, I guess she should. She's the instructor!

I think I will try to make the Tuesday evening class.

After the class Deborah asked me about her shoes. I must admit, I really, really enjoyed answering her questions. I told her to go to the running store. Sage advice, huh?!?

Tomorrow is run club. Hooray!

I would imagine Pilates would be great for your tendon situation.

It is great to be able to answer running questions, however I seem to get this kind of question way too often; "YOU run?" It is really bad when they follow that up with, "Wow, I never would have guessed." That makes me feel really good.

And yeah, look me up when you are in the DFW area. We can go on a slow run together.

Good for you to keep looking for ways to deal with the injury.
Sounds like Pilates is a winner.
Best wishes with that.

Sounds interesting. I've never tried Pilates. Sounds like you are staying fit and busy, which is awesome! Whether running or cross training, the important thing is to stick with the fitness. It really does become a lifestyle.

Susan, you're handling this injury thing so well I think you ought to consider writing a book! Keep up the positive attitude and know that you are inspiring many with your stories.
