What's What

We have a strict rule about the run club: no running in the rain, so sayeth Tonya. Well, Tonya wasn't going to be there yesterday (her daughter had a school program). So Chasen and I showed up and it was very, very grey and misting rain, at least for a bit. I decided the show would go on! Two other women showed up, and off we went to the track. They walked for 3 1/2 minutes and ran for 90 seconds. (Last week was 4 and 1.) I have decided that we'll stay at 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 for next week, also, as it turned out to be quite a jump for them.

I can't even describe properly how much I enjoy the run club! I LOVE encouraging them and letting them know how far they have run already. That is how I would like to be coached, if I was on the receiving end. Yesterday the two ladies did 2.25 miles and Chasen did 2.5 miles (Mr. Speedy lapped them). When it was all done (30 minutes worth) I stretched them out the way I would stretch after a run (i.e. 4 moves vs. the zillion Tonya had everyone do last week -- hey, I'm not a personal trainer!) The skies cleared up, also. No rain!

Chasen has encouraged me to visit the foot doc again since my ankle is constantly swollen and hurts so often. I don't want to, as I view this as a necessary evil -- but he might be right; something might be awry. Better safe than sorry, I suppose. Maybe I need a new brace or something. We shall see. I go Wednesday afternoon.

Tomorrow night I am going back to another Pilates class! For sure! Now that was fun stuff.

Susan - you are just amazing! I keep saying it but it's true! You really are a glass full kind of girl aren't you? Your run club is very lucky and 4 stretches? That was the least you could do after making them run in the rain ;)..

Re your ankle - definitely go back. I put it off and look where I am. Also see Drusy's latest post - I know you haven't got plantar but there may be taping techniques out there that are less common but work? Check them out.

Swollen and painful does not sound so good. Hope you have a helpful doctor visit.

I love running in misty rain.. if it isn't below 50 degrees.

You have got to feel great about helping and encouraging people to get started running! How wonderful to be able to share a sport you enjoy while helping people improve their health and fitness.

Hope things go well at the docs. Coaching the way you'd want to be coached is a great approach. Maybe get some folks to do the SimplyStu tri with you end of March?

Get to that doctor and figure out what's going on. I'd hate to think that they'll have to to put you in a cast to get that leg to heal.
