There IS a light at the end of the tunnel.
While I have wanted to work for myself for AGES, it didn't become crystal clear that I could make it happen until I was forced to stop running. So I have a torn (but not quite as torn as it used to be!) peroneal tendon to thank for this. Today is the first day of a bright future for me!
I have a refurbished, snazzy laptop AND a business license -- let the games begin. I have my own domain on the web (soon to be disclosed!) and I have designed my new business cards. I have the blessing of my CPA and Chasen's full support. I even have a "starter job" from my as-of-today former boss. I have three leads for other work. Now it's time to pound the pavement (if only I could do it in my Brooks....)

Wow, good luck on the new venture Susan. Just think, once you get back to running you can let your self off to run anytime you want. Ha, it usually doesn't work that way though, if there is work to be done you will be working harder than ever because its your business. Good luck!!
Holy Quick Trigger Bat Woman, I didn't know it was coming THIS soon.

Hi Susan, Nice blog! I just wanted to say hello.
You are an amazing woman for going out and starting your own business. I'd love to do that!!!!
I just wanted to mention to you that I've been doing a procedure called prolotheraphy for my foot. It is used to strengthen tendons and ligaments-no surgery involved! I used to run in major pain-now it's unbelievable! I'm running long distances again. the only thing that is stopping me is the sun and heat not my foot! I used to run 6 miles a day and in september I was down to 2.5 miles and crying in pain the entire way! Check it out-it might help you!!

What a brave woman!!! Good for you, I hope it all works out for the best.
It takes a someone with special character and some guts to do what you have done. I admire you for it. I could never strike out on my own.
What courage! Of course, being your own boss, means you can wear your Brooks anyday of the week (at least after you get the boot off).
Brava!
