2007 Blastoff - Final Report

Hello challenge fans! The results are in. The most important result to report is that 100% of the participants have good things to say about our friendly competition and wish to continue forward into February - the Sweetheart Slimdown Challenge. Whoo hoo! And there is room for more - the more the merrier. Please join us! I'll e-mail the spreadsheet to anyone who is interested.

Here are the weekly results:
Katie earned 48 points and gained 1 pound.
Martina earned 42 points and lost 0.5 pounds.
I earned 41 points and gained 0.8 pounds.
Susan K. earned 37 points and lost 1 pound.

Katie kicked into high gear! Congratulations, Miss Weekly Winner! Martina did well, also. She was back on home turf and did amazingly. Soon, though, our friend will be reporting in from abroad. I skipped calisthenics two nights and had to miss a run due to lack of sleep, but overall I felt great about this past week. And Susan K. got some much desired results this past week, even if her points did not reflect that! She is the positive attitude winner!

Now for what you've all been waiting for - the overall 2007 Blastoff results!

Katie skunked us again! She earned a whopping 182 points and is down 3 pounds overall. WOW! No one can argue against being three pounds lighter in a month's time.
I came in a close second with 180 points and a net loss of 0.4 pounds. I'll take that!
Susan K. earned 173 points and is up 2 pounds (but is about to slaughter us, I feel).
Martina, who faced the most challenges (in my opinion), earned 158 points and lost 2 pounds.

CONGRATULATIONS TO KATIE!!!! Really, though, we should all be very proud of ourselves and all that we have achieved. Martina commented that if we're continuing, she's on board because this has really made her increase her water and fruits/vegetables intake. As I indicated before, she travels constantly, so she gets my hat off to her! Susan K. has become a close friend to me throughout this challenge, and for that I am grateful. She is motivational, supportive and makes me feel like I have my own cheering section in central Illinois! And oh Katie - she and I have been fitness pals for ages, yet this challenge has reinforced our goals and made us a stronger duo. And might I add that her running sabbatical is FINISHED. My running gal is back! We can once again be virtual training partners!

Now on to the Sweetheart Slimdown Challenge. We're keeping all of the same rules. It will run for the next four weeks. I predict that Susan K. will move to the top of the ranks. I predict that Katie will take on running with a vengeance. I predict that Martina will conquer Europe, Asia, or wherever her career sends her, with ease. And I predict that I will do my deadlevel best to keep as fit and health-conscious as I possibly can leading up to my marathon. Come on folks, let's make this happen!

My hope in participating in the challenge is to get me focused. I feel much more focused at the end of January than I did in December, for example. I'm with Katie--I vote for no more gains, *and* I'm with Susan---I'll do my deadlevel best too! ;)
