SF10 TR #7, A Little Variety

SF10 Miles Trained To Date: 37.75

My plan to run very early this morning was foiled by pouring rain. I had visions of going to the gym to accomplish the ten miles on the treadmill... but then I fell asleep. Once I woke, it was imperative to finish the insurance forms regarding the robbery (ick!) so I actually did not get out to run until about 3 PM. Luckily, it was less than 70 degrees.

Just before I left I was complaining to my husband that I was tired of my usual running routes. I claim to have run down every street in town, you know. So finding something new is difficult... especially when I am unwilling to drive somewhere and run because I don't want to drive home sweaty and stinky. I have cloth seats, after all!

I was to do a usual run; down the service run and then down the "old highway" to the five mile point, and then turn around and come home. Well that did not happen. The "three vicious dogs" that are penned up (thankfully) and the two mile point were minus one today. One was loose! So, I didn't dare chance that. I turned up a road (Peeler Bend, to be exact) that I had only ran a short way up in the past. As it turned out, Peeler Bend went just as far as I needed it to. And there were gorgeous homes way back there!

I had a pretty good mental attitude while I was out there. I listened to several favorite podcasts. I did have to walk a bit at times, especially near mile 5 due to some rolling hills, but my overall time was right on the money.

Mile 1: 11:21
Mile 2: 12:02
Mile 3: 11:20
Mile 4: 11:34
Mile 5: 12:12
Mile 6: 12:58
Mile 7: 12:24
Mile 8: 12:10
Mile 9: 11:49
Mile 10: 10:14 (wow!)
Total: 1:58:18 (I would take this for the Soldier Field 10 any day!)
Average: 11:49 per mile, 169 beats per minute

Sounds like the same storm that hit us in Olathe, KS, last weekend. Good job on getting out there.

Also wanted to say what an inspiration you are. I looked back at some of your December posts to read about your RT experience and also saw the post with the picture of you from 2001. Congrats on the new you!

Nice work. I'm having a problem with that map on your page. It's HUGE! I can't read the text, because of that large map.
