What a great four days I've had! After a long-time-planned lake trip was cancelled due to weather, Chasen and I decided to seize the day and take a long weekend in Asheville, NC.
On the way there we were very fortunate. We got to meet Coach Terry in Knoxville! It was like saying hello - for the very first time - to an old friend. He was super.
It was about a 10-hour drive to Asheville. On the first night we just got acclimated with the area. On day two we toured the Biltmore Estate! It was worth every penny. I highly recommend it. Afterwards we drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
On day three I did a 2-mile run first thing in the morning. I managed to finish it in 21:23 (10:42 per mile). Afterwards we went to Chimney Rock Park. The photo is from there. We took an elevator up to the point of the photo. From there we did a hike that took an hour and a half. My calves have not yet let me forget about it!
Today, day four, we casually drove home. I don't plan to run until Wednesday or so. Asheville was EXCELLENT!

I wondered if you were travelling. Your blog was so quiet.
Asheville is awesome. And as a bonus, you got to meet Coach Terry...
How cool is that?
Welcome home!
What Maddy said....
I love the mountains (probably because I don't live in them) - we vacationed in NC last summer and loved it!
Looks like you had a great time! Glad you got to meet Coach Terry as well.
I was awesome to met the two of you!
And yay to the two of you for being spontaneous and getting out of Arkansas!
