Good day, everyone! I survived the trip to Maine. I will be blogging about that ASAP. But first things first: today is my FIRST DAY OF MARATHON TRAINING!!! This photo is especially appropriate today; after being exhausted from much, much travel time and very little sleep last night, I popped out of bed this morning to get that training run DONE. And I did. I did six easy longrun miles with zero trouble. I wore my Pray For Elijah band and all was well with the world. It was quite foggy outdoors, especially down "the old highway" where I ran. I was met by Chasen during the last mile as he was heading to work (earlier than me, obviously). That was nice; he saw me off!
I was to do the 6 miles at a pace of 12:15 - 12:25. To my surprise, all of the miles were done faster. Oh well - I was "trying" to dilly-dally - but it just didn't work. I was running slowly, happily, and fairly consistently.
Mile 1: 11:52Mile 2: 11:24
Mile 3: 11:42
Mile 4: 11:47
Mile 5: 11:53
Mile 6: 11:31
Total: 1:10:11
Average: 11:42 per mile, 178 beats per minute
It feels amazing to be "back in the saddle!"
