While driving to work this morning my two favorite DJ's interviewed Rick Hood, a Little Rock native who now resides in Houston, Texas. Long story short, Rick is an avid triathlete who is doing a wonderful, wonderful thing. He is biking from Houston to Little Rock (over 500 miles) to raise money for The Women's Home in Houston and Women and Children First in Little Rock. He will split all raised funds 50-50 between the two organizations.
He is biking for six days in order to come and do the Little Rock Marathon this Sunday (which will accomplish "the brick" aspect of his trek). I figured if Rick could bike 500 miles, I could give a little. I am hoping that some of my generous friends will do the same! Click here to do so... but at least check it out. We need more people like Rick in this world.

Interesting post! Thanks for letting us know about him. I will definitely be following him.
One more thing...Remember that game you played when you were a kid called "Tag"...Well, we're playing it in blogosphere now! Tag, you're it - check out my blog for details.
Wow, that is one heck of a brick he's doing. I hope he makes it to Little Rock in good shape!
Wish I was off work on Friday I would ride with him some. I'll pass this on to some other bikers as well. Great cause.
Very cool! I can't wait to see how his marathon time turns out. After biking for 6 days I would be totally trashed.
Thank you so much for this mention. Last year, I told folks that if we raised over $5000, I would do the Brick for Women again. Sure enough, we broke that barrier and I am now training for a 2009 return trip. I had the excuse of not knowing what I was getting into then. Now, well, I'm every bit as anxious (comes from the word "anxiety") about the event.
I leave Houston on March 8 and run the Little Rock marathon on March 15.
Spread the word!
Thanks again,
Rick
Proud of you Rick! you should come to the territory and have a go at the indonesian bike run that is fast approaching.
