3 Minute PR!

My running this week got off to a slow start. I skipped on Monday and Tuesday, to my chagrin. I'd be awake, realize it was the perfect time to get out there, and then just go back to sleep. Ugh! But all of that changed today. I woke at 4:57 AM all by myself (sans alarm). I peeked outside and saw the beauty that is dawn. I just loooooove dawn. So I hoofed it out there!

I did another neighborhood 5K in the COOL. (I can't imagine why people would want to run at 10 AM or 2 PM, but I see them doing it around here every day. Crazy!) When I did it on Saturday, I ran a half mile then walked at least a quarter mile. Well today I walked a quarter mile and RAN 3/4 of a mile! Yep -- more running than walking. It felt great!

Mile 1 was 13:04. Whoa baby! That reminded me of the good ole days. Mile 2 was 13:31, which was still great. During mile 3 I got a recurring side stitch -- ick -- and clocked 14:17, which was still not too shabby. All in all I knocked off exactly three minutes from Saturday's run. Wow! If this trend keeps up, I'll soon be ready for the Olympics. Ha!

Great to see that you're happy and enjoying the fact you're back to running! And I'm w/you--I love morning (early morning, before 8am, is my preference)

I'm so proud of you! I know what u mean - running in the COOL early in the morning is the best! I did a workout at 6am this morning, and I was even a bit chilly at first! Felt weird given the 100 degree temps here during the day!

Sounds like things are starting to roll. Keep on runnin' on!

I'm taking your lead this summer and running pre-dawn. I really think the heat did my training in last summer and had me feeling too discouraged to do a marathon.

Yay for the running!

No pre-dawn for me. Just too early. Then again, I hardly ever go to bed until midnight or so.

Enjoy the runs! Great times!

You go Girly! I know what you mean about running at dawn...it's like the world is a magical place...when you can muster sneaking out from out of the covers!

Awesome! Consistency my friend. You'll be up to for a marathon before you know it.
