I Love Intervals!

I worked late last night (yes, Sunday) so I didn't pop out of bed at the crack of dawn today. I got out there at about 7:30. And I decided it was OK because a) I just had to do 2 miles of intervals, and b) the Elvis 5K starts at 8 AM this Saturday.

I thought it wouldn't be a fabulous run -- but it was! Dang I love 200m intervals! I did them in 10:56, 10:31, 9:37, 9:45, 10:29, 9:53, 9:48, 10:20. The average was 10:33. Go me!

The recovery usually goes like this: screeching halt, drink of water, walk a bit, then about halfway through I actually run slowly. The average recovery pace was 15:41. Oh well. What's important to me is a) I did the intervals fast for me and b) I did 2 miles in 26:14 -- which is a miracle for me these days. Yay!

In other news... you may remember me stating a while back that I intend to grow out my hair and donate it to Locks of Love one day when I meet the requirements. You have to donate at least a 10" ponytail. When I first got the notion, I had 7.5". I probably had about a 6" ponytail when the "Why I Run" photo on the sidebar of this blog was taken. As of today I have 8.5"!!! That is exciting to me. And Chasen is in long hair heaven.

Here is my sweaty 8.5" ponytail after today's interval training.

Have a great day!

Sweetheart - just catching up on your news. So great to see your intervals are going so well, as is your running generally (especially given those temps, don't know how you do it). And what a cute photo of you that is - is that how cool you are under pressure? Must make your hair grow... I hardly dare ask, but I assume the ankle is behaving?

Long hair heaven -- that's so funny!!

My husband loves long hair too and kids me about when I'm going to get my "old lady haircut." Well, of course, the answer is never if he's going to call it that ;-)

Wonderful to hear the intervals went well!

I'd love to get my hair long enough to donate to locks of love... but I don't think Jen would be in Long Hair Heaven though... HA!

I guess there are other things that I can donate. Oh wait... that sounds... uhhhhhhhhhh
