Safety (and Friendship) First!

Imagine my surprise when I found a box outside my door yesterday containing all of this:

Coach Terry mailed me a bunch of baby goodies - and a shirt for me!

Boy didn't I luck out! Largest item first: a red technical shirt that sports the ASD Athletes logo. You see, he created this charitable organization. The goal is to support people with Autistic Spectrum Disorders in their athletic endeavors. Coach Terry was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, which falls under the umbrella of Autism, last year. The shirt is red (obviously) which is my favorite color of running shirt... and is is HUGE, thankfully, because I am expanding my leaps and bounds! He said he wanted it to accommodate Baby S down the road -- that was wise!

He also sent a slew of safety items to babyproof our house: 2 toilet locks, 2 refrigerator latches, multiple outlet covers, many cabinet and door latches, 3 door knob locks (my favorite!), a tv guard (which Chasen certainly appreciates), 2 packets of diaper rash cream, some other items whose purpose I have yet to figure out, and a VERY nice note. Wow!

He and his wife, Jen, have 2 little boys who also have Asperger's Syndrome. She blogs all about it here. Check it out. I really enjoy her blog. It's educational, humorous and, best of all, very loving.

Thanks, Coach!

Congratulations, Susan! (Sorry I haven't been keeping up!) I think it's great that you'll continue running (carefully) for the next few weeks. Didn't Paula Radcliff run until her 8th month or something? In any case, I'm so happy for you!

Not a Problem! It was our pleasure! And depending on if Baby S stands up to pee or not will determine if there is more stuff on the way!

How thoughtful! (how the heck did we ever survive our childhoods without those things?)

The cabinet locks in particular will save your bacon - there's this phase where they will open every drawer in the house and empty it out and you will be SO pleased you spent the time to put the locks on, believe me!

Go Terry!
