TKO

On Saturday we got the chance to tour Valley Forge! Here is a photo of Washington's Headquarters:

It was actually quite small, considering what all happened there.

Afterwards I got a real treat. We were able to have lunch with my college classmate Heather who lives nearby. It was very nice to catch up after so long! After that we were going to make a quick stop by the hotel to freshen up and prepare for more Philly time. Instead, I crashed hard on the bed! I guess I needed a little breather after going "ninety to nothing" for the previous days. So the next thing we knew it was dinner time. We decided to make the short drive to Delaware for dinner! We had some really good Chinese food (at a sushi/Japanese place, mind you). Neither of us had ever been to Delaware, so mission accomplished.

Bright and early Sunday morning we got up and headed back into Philly. It was time for my Rocky run! But guess what... there was an AIDS walk about to happen and the proximity to the Museum of Art was PACKED. It made parking difficult. Chasen just dropped me off down at the beginning of "boathouse row" as I called it. They line the river and end at the museum. I didn't know how long of a run it would be. Perhaps 2 miles? And fortunately there was a port-o-potty right at the start!

This is the path leading up to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Long story SHORT: it was only 3/4 of a mile to the museum!

Here I celebrate my pre-stairs run next to Rocky.

The front area (and stairs) were jam packed with people, news crews, etc. so getting up the stairs for my triumphant run was actually quite difficult. But off I went!

There I go!

Here is the video of the last two runs of stairs, the only ones (of the four) that were fairly empty. Sorry, you'll have to tilt your head to the left.

I did it! It wasn't nearly as exciting as I thought it would be, considering the crowds. Rocky didn't have to deal with that! Or with being 22 weeks pregnant and stopping 2 times to pee within 3/4 of a mile. LOL

It was an excellent trip that even included a quick drive over the Betsy Ross Bridge into New Jersey. And now we're home - the best place on earth.

Way to fight your way through the crowds to get up those stairs! And it looks like you had a gorgeous day too. Great job, champ!!

I love the photos well done for braving the crowds just so we could share. Lovely weather there? Sounds like you two had a wonderful trip and you also managed to get some runs in..

I swear it's a pain in the BUMPER to have to pee all the time! I laughed and almost did pee to hear the excitment in your voice about the porta potty! :) Never thought a porta john (or a big bush or tree whatever is available)would be your best buddy! LOL and have a great week Susan! Cute pics!

I love your picture with Rocky. I was in Philly in August but I missed that, where exactly the museum is? ... Darn... However, I didn't miss Valley Forge, very interesting place, isn't it? HUGE!!!!!!
say hi to your little baby boy... I wonder what he was thinking meanwhile you were through the steps... Imagine when you do that one day with him... Quite an experience, and quite a beautiful relationship!!!

I remember those steps, I ran them post Distance Run a little over a year ago. (Not so busy then and there were UPS trucks for kit pick up.)

Love the shot with Rocky.
