Not Exactly What I Planned

Well, my treadmill run in the wee hours yesterday morning did NOT happen. You know what they say... sometimes life gets in the way. With Chasen traveling for work (yuck) it's just Isaac and I here. I was about at my wit's end my mid-evening Monday (yes, already on night #1). I realized how much relief Chasen brings to my mommy duties when he comes home from work. Without him here I get zero relief, and Isaac has NOT been happy for various reasons. Not fun! He has turned into one of those babies who wants to be held ALL the time. He used to be quite the independent little man.

Anyway, I awoke to a noise on Tuesday morning at 1 AM and couldn't get back to sleep until well after 3 AM. That totally reminded me of my pregnant life. Needless to say, I couldn't will myself out of bed at 6 AM. I just slept until Isaac woke up. There was no treadmilling after that, either, because I just felt weak all day. It was very strange; I had a bad belly and almost didn't feel strong enough to walk with Isaac in my arms! So I just chalked Tuesday up to another day of rest.

Tuesday night came and Mr. Pre-Teething was inconsolable. Just like Monday night I "cheated" and let him sleep on his changing pad in his crib. For some reason he likes that. Chasen thinks it makes him feel more comforted, as it sort of wraps around him a little bit:

I got a fantastic night's sleep last night. I only woke once for about 1 minute! And now I am counting down the minutes until Chasen comes home after work. Yes, he had to go straight back to work after his plane landed. Not fair!

"Hurry up, Daddy. All this waiting for you to come home is wearing me out."

Ugh. I hate when the Boss is gone too. It's what we get for having such good partners in parenting. I'm glad Chasen's back; I'm sorry you had a bad couple days of it. And Susan, you are *brilliant*. Our second, the Monkey, hated sleeping on his back, and it never occurred to me to try his changing pad in his crib. DUH! We tried everything else--including his car seat, for cryin' out loud--b/c he startled himself awake all the time. What a brilliant idea!

Here's hoping for a better week, health-, training-, and sleep-wise.

Hang in there Susan. Being a mother of infant is tough... you never get the rest you need. My boys use to keep me up for days LOL.. my older son was allergic to his formula (which I didn't know) and was just misrable he kept me up for 3 days straight. I'll never forget it. I was so tired I wanted to cry, but I felt incredibly terrible that I couldn't make him feel better.(until I switched formulas) My youngest wouldn't sleep unless he was in his stroller. So I just let him sleep in his stroller.

It's great that you haven Chasen help you, it makes it easier when daddy's around. My hubby makes a difference as well, my boys are so different around him.

Good luck on training, I also hope you have a better week.
