SF10 TR #3, I Did It

SF10 Miles Trained To Date: 14.25

Well, obviously my 4-mile easy run did not happen yesterday. The day was just all-too-filled with lock changing, glass repair, security measures, making telephone calls, etc. And last night I was just pooped. Plus, I felt that my legs needed a rest from the interval running on Wednesday. So I aimed to run this morning.

I woke up and really didn't want to do it. But I knew it would be helpful on many levels. So I put on my new running capri's (present to self) and set out. I didn't take any kind of musical distraction. For now, I am all about the safety! The first mile was filled with thought after thought of the robbery, unfortunately. I was trying to be a sleuth, not that it helps anything. I tried to get back into the game during mile 2 and speed up (contrary to what the Garmin says). I turned around after 2 miles to head home. Somehow the Garmin clocked off the 4 mile point way sooner than it should have. Hmm!

Mile 1: 12:17 (deep in thought)
Mile 2: 13:18 (impossible - I find fault with this)
Mile 3: 11:30 (that's more like it)
Mile 4: 11:19 (too fast, and it ended too soon)
Total: 48:33
Average: 12:06 per mile, 170 beats per minute

On the way back up to my house, I met two different neighbors. It's strange how certain circumstances make you want to get to know everyone possible - even people you never desired to know before. I chatted with both of them. Next thing you know, I'll be the head of the (nonexistent) Neighborhood Crime Watch.

Glad to hear you got yourself back out running and also w/o any distractions. Unfortunately, I have had 2 guys try to attack me in the past 10 years, the most recent was in broad daylight last year. A friend of mine was attacked by the same guy and never heard him come up behind her because she was wearing earphones.

It's good to know your neighbors. Since the hurricanes of 2004, my immediate neighbors have all gotten much closer. We all look out for one another, tell each other what's going on (if there has been a burglary, robbery, major health problems, etc) and help each other.
