The Mighty Have Fallen

Aargh! And there I was - trying to be as "on my game" as possible for the upcoming SF10 race... and then come some flu-like symptoms. Aargh!

Yesterday, a rest-day from running, I woke up with a sore throat. No big deal, I thought, sometimes those things go away by mid-morning. Well, by late afternoon it felt raw and it was painful to swallow. By the time I got home my ears hurt and I was freezing cold. And I just felt weak all over. So I went to bed and have been drinking Theraflu ever since. Sleeping was a sweaty experience! Yuck!

And today... I just HAD to come to work because my boss needed something important to be done. What's worse, I really had no clue as to how to do it! My runner coworker helped me, so now I'm sitting pretty. On the health front, it is time for another hot, yummy cup of Theraflu. I am actually feeling OK, but I think it's because I have been too busy to think about feeling poorly! Ha. Note to self: stay busy.

I obviously do not plan to run today. I'll get back out there when I feel up to it. Aargh!

Susan - take it from me - TAKE IT EASY NOW! Speaking as someone who ignored her flu until it became a chest infection and she had to give up her spring marathon - just give yourself (plenty of) time off to get better. You'll easily catch up when you're better..

I am an older guy (54). I don't get sick much. Everytime I felt under the weather since I started my daily regimen, I'd run anyway. I may have finished the session sweaty, slobbery and uncomfortable, but I don't think so. But that's me!

I know that you'll get much better in just a little time. Why?

There is just no way you can keep a fine, upstanding, young lady, such as yourself, down and out for any period of time! I think it is because you are so determined at what you do.

Get better quickly!

Sorry to hear you are sick :-(

Rest up and take it easy. You will be back on the road in no time! Better to heal up than to push too soon.

Oh no! I'm sorry you're under the weather.

Take it easy and you'll be 100% before you know it.

The rest will do you good
