Not Much Fun

Phew - what a week. In fact, what a 6 weeks! Just 6 short weeks ago Chasen and I came to Olive Branch for his job interview. We were both fairly certain it would go well and fairly certain we'd be moving. Boy that sounds nice and easy -- in theory. As do most things...

Then we were lucky enough to both find our new dream home AND sell our previous dream home very quickly. My friend Angela said we must be 'living right' for this all to go so smoothly. The smoothness quickly faded. We went through unexpected new home drama and a bunch of current home selling/repairing drama. Ah the joys of real estate! The good news is that both our Arkansas and Mississippi realtors have been hard working joys to work with.

This brings me to now. On Friday the packers came. They packed up our whole house in 5.5 hours. WOW! They worked so fast... if I didn't watch it they would have packed ME up. Then yesterday, Saturday, the loaders came. They loaded it all up in 4 hours. It won't arrive until Tuesday, though.

I transported these two very important guys personally: Pup and Bear. I've had Pup since he was bigger than me. Chasen quips that I've always had a thing for engineers. Ha! Bear is his pal from childhood.

There goes my beloved leather couch onto the monster rig. It better arrive in the same condition!

Once I arrived in Olive Branch, Chasen was already at our new house cleaning. We did that for a few hours even though my ankle for some reason was hurting and swollen. Stress? Who knows. It is better today. I did question yesterday if it would ever be better. It was a long day and I was exhausted and frustrated and just plain unhappy. Today is a better day!

I am not going to try to run/walk today. We have more cleaning to do, and I am just concerned with el ankle. Rather, I am going to focus on the tons of business work I have to get done, look forward to the furniture arriving on Tuesday and the internet/cable/telephone service starting on Wednesday!

It has been busy and it has been hectic. But soon we'll be settled in -- I hope!

Hope your ankle gets better soon. Take it easy! Moving is a lot of hard work. Looks like Bear & Pup got moved in style. Somewhere in my basement I have my Bear & Pup, a Raggedy Ann doll and a beanbag puppy. The 3 of us used to confront the dangers lurking under the bed together.

I hope you are taking it easy on your ankle today.

Moving sucks and it's hard work, yet you are handling it very well!

I'm looking forward to your reports about your runs in your new neighborhood!

I'm with Maddy.. moving SUCKS!

But is a necessary evil. make sure that you are saving ALL of your receipts... what I am saying, I know how detail oriented you are!

Hope the couch makes it.

You're getting closer to settled every day. Keep babying that ankle. Good luck and before you know it you'll be keeping the same schedule I am.

I'm impressed with the 5.5 hours for packing your entire house! Wow! I'm dreading moving myself, looking for a house in NLR, so I feel your pain, good luck with Tuesday!

Yup, I'm amazed how quickly movers can pack and move stuff. Heard once about a poor kitty getting packed up in some container so glad you brought your pals separately.

Hope the ankle is OK!

I hope your ankle realizes the error of its way and allows you peace of mind soon. Do take care of yourself. Don't allow your exuberance to overwhelm good sense. You are special to many people.

You know, I really do not have anything from my youth except memories. I don't miss 'em, though...

Moving is such a hassle! I'm glad you are doing OK with it. Remember when it arrives, you have more time to unpack, as long as you have what you need about you. I still have packed boxes from 10 years ago. You know, unless there are some coins or antigues in them, I don't think I'll need the items anymore...

Good luck!

I think the fun part is unpacking because you get to put stuff away in new places! And organize all over again :)

Real estate challenges - there's always a snag - but there's always a way to work them out. I remember the last house I sold got a roof leak 20 days before closure - I freaked!

Love the photo of your loved ones!
