Running For Two

I'm pregnant!!!

This was Baby S's second race (the Firecracker 5K was the first).

See - there is Baby S! (at 11 weeks)

Q: When did I find out?
A: June 20, 2008. Chasen and I wholeheartedly agreed that it would be best if we waited until we got through the first trimester before making the announcement. At first it was a very tough ‘secret’ to keep… but since we now live in a place where we know no one, it has actually been pretty easy to keep tight-lipped (except for on this blog, of course).

Q: Was this planned?
A: YES! Although it did not happen overnight… apparently our little one wanted to be conceived in Mississippi.

Q: When am I due?
A: February 23, 2009. I’ll be 34 years old. This due date is why I elected to drop out of the American Odyssey Relay in April 2009.

Q: How far along am I?
A: 13 weeks, 2 days

Q: Have I been sick?
A: That’s a tricky one. Not officially. I have not thrown up, nor have I been nauseous. However, I’ve had a general feeling of ‘ick’ quite a lot. But that has dwindled as the first trimester comes to an end.

Q: Have I been tired?
A: Oh. My. Lord. YES! Very few days have gone by that I have not had to take a midday nap. Thank heavens I now work for myself and can afford to do so. Of course that means I have to work extra to make it up – but it’s all good. And like the icky feeling, it is subsiding.

Q: Do we have names picked out?
A: Of course!

Q: Do I have weird cravings?
A: From time to time.

Q: How does Chasen feel?
A: He’s ecstatic! And you thought he was supportive of my running? Well multiply that times 10 and you’ll get close to how good of a “pregnancy husband” he is.

Q: Have I been to the doctor?
A: Well of course! We first went at 6 weeks (they wouldn’t see me before then) and most recently at 11 weeks. A practice was recommended to me, and the particular doctor assigned to me is a distance runner. She’s great!

Q: Did my doctor approve my running and, specifically, training for the Worldwide Half Marathon?
A: YES. She said since I am already a runner, it is completely safe to continue throughout the pregnancy – so long as I listen to my body and not push too hard. It’s a deal. What a gal! And FYI I am A-OK with all of the walking I have been finding it necessary to do. I am not overdoing it!

There ya have it! We're ecstatic!

That's totally awesome, congrats to you and Chasen! Can't wait to hold baby Stout!

So... the big question is... are you registered yet? or do you just want gift cards
(MUHAHAHAHAHAHHA)
