Total Miles Trained For Elijah: 39

Yeesh - it has gone from bad to worse. Today I was to do 6 easy miles (12:00 - 12:15 pace). Piece of cake, right? Not today. Fortunately I picked an out-and-back course, so I was at least forced to finish the run. I just didn't have it in me today. I was like an unmotivated turtle. I walked a lot. Here are the sad numbers.

Mile 1: 12:49
Mile 2: 13:29
Mile 3: 13:38
Mile 4: 14:42
Mile 5: 14:13
Mile 6: 13:18
Total: 1:22:26
Average: 13:44 per mile, 161 beats per minute

Wow - that is pretty pathetic. But at least I got myself out there. I just know that my 11 miler on Saturday will be better. I just has to be!

You may still be fatigued from your run on Saturday along with the speed work.

Hang in there... it's not the end of the world. I'm thinking that we might need to back you a mile or two on your long run to allow a little more recovery. We aren't trying to break you...

It will be better Susan. Hang in there! I had a 12 miler last weekend that was just torture. The week before, I did 11 miles and it was great. I don't know how that happens, but it happens.

Tomorrow is a new day.

I'm inspired by your motivation. Without down days there won't be up days! Hang in there! You can do it!

I love the way that NYLisa put it. I rate every run that I do. I am always amazed at how the rating changes from run to run.

Just think! On your next run, you're owed a up day! Hooray!

Your biggest thing is that you hung in there and ran the miles!!! As the famous coach Terry has told me, as you transition into a new training program it takes your body a week or so to get into it. So I have found that after making a change I have a "slow" week - then I have a great week.

We all have the up and down weeks. When you hang in there and finish the miles, you still get the benefit!!!

You are going to great on your long run - take your time and enjoy it :-)
